What Do You REALLY Love About Your Body?

Popular bloggers Ms. Nikki, Ms. Sophie, and Ms. Wendy among others have posted a video and their own thoughts about what they loved about their friends' and their own bodies. I admire these girls, as they are truly beautiful. However, I was quite surprised to read about their own responses to the question.

Honestly speaking, Ms. Sophie's post here was the one I was very touched with. She wrote about her sister, who had a skin condition when they were young. I really teared up while I was reading it. Why? Well, simply because I had a similar condition.

This video was a campaign by Dove. Watch and get ready to reflect on one question that will follow...

So... What do you love about your body?

The video really made me reflect on what I love about myself. I always envy girls gifted with clear, white skin, nice set of twins and pretty face - and the feeling still occur at times. I am insecure. I feel jealous of other people's beauty and I barely see it in myself.

Just like Ms. Sophie's sister, when I was a kid, I had a skin condition that caused me to have wounds all the time. Since I had that condition at an early age, I rarely get the chance to wear shorts and skirts when I was young. I have always felt ashamed of showing off my legs because if my cousins make fun of me, what more if other people get to see my nasty scars? So, I always wear pants ALL THE TIME.

In short, I was so insecure because unlike my sisters and cousins, I can not be as normal as them. I cannot be as fashionable as them. I used to feel really scared to wear P.E shorts even when I reached High School and College. Let's say that I had some self-esteem problems, too. Up to this moment, insecurity still hits me.

Me in 3rd Year High School

I also feel for people who gets bullied because of their physical abnormalities - in fact, we shouldn't call them abnormalities. I just can't think of a proper term in describing it. =S

So I always tend to appreciate beauty in others - just because I can't see it in myself. Okay. I sometimes overdo it... hehehe...

I have only learned to appreciate my own beauty lately, when I got some compliments from other people... and when I won Ms. Photogenic and 2nd Runner Up in a school pageant. *teehee - kahiya (embarassing), huh? hihihi...* =D

The first time I appreciated my OWN beauty...

Simple gestures of praise boosts my confidence and gives me the courage to flaunt what I have.

Until now.

So, whenever I get good comments from other people, I remember and try my best to enhance or improve that part of me.

I have relearned a lot from this video. No one is perfect. We all have our own flaws. Love thyself, but not to the point that all you see is yourself. Learn to accept thy flaws. Embrace what you have and learn to cultivate it.

I may not have the perfect physique, but I am thankful for the knowledge, the talent and the heart that God has given me. =)

Ahhh... it feels good to say the things above. ^__^

Ladies and Gentlemen, don't let other people let you down.

Smile and be proud! God has a purpose for everything!

P.S:
Thanks to Ms. Sophie for sharing her sister's story. It was very inspiring. =)

To my hubby, thank you for accepting me for the way that I am; despite my flaws and insecurities, you always make me feel beautiful and sexy in your own way. I love you so much! ^__^

Back to Basics

I made a post about how my skin had a drastic change from May until present.

A couple of zits popped up again and they were at the same side. I wonder what's with my left cheek that they keep coming back to that side...? hmmm... No, I don't rest my hands on my left cheek, they just surface and appear like insect bites! TT__TT

So, I decided to go back to the basics...

Yep! Dove Beauty Bar!

After a couple of months of going on a make-up diet (on which I confess, there were a number of times that I can't resist putting on make-up - special occasions, to name a few: SKP Graduation, movie date(s) with Honey and college friend's bday), I reduced using some products on my face.

I skipped the tone and moisturize rule. Long ago, all I usually do to my face was cleanse it. Back then, my face was smooth, pimples would appear sometimes, but not this worse. My office mates then envy my clear face. So, I wouldn't be surprised if our college friend (which became our office mate, too) noticed the spots on my left cheek when we met on her birthday. That made me decide on going back to my old and ONLY routine: WASHING MY FACE WITH DOVE BEAUTY BAR!

After her birthday, two more small zits appeared - same as the previous two - firm, fleshy and a little painful. What's good about it was it didn't last for too long. As of now, all I have to take care of are the marks left by the terrible pimple marks.

Before my class. Yeah. I don't wear make-up now. I'm so horrible!!! TT__TT

Even after my face has cleared up already, I will still go to the dermatologist and have my face checked, cleaned and peeled, if necessary. Which made me curious... Does peeling hurt? =D

By the way, the wedding was moved. September 23. Duh! I hate it! Maybe that's why the last two zits appeared! Hahahahuhuhu... Me is getting crazy! Grrr!!!

2 months, 4 weeks, 2 days to go... hayzt!

Next mission: Clearing up the marks! Aja! =D

Wish me luck!

PS:
Sorry for torturing you with my horrible face pics this month... I promise, when it's all cleared up, I will start practicing on my make-up looks! I will make it up to you! =D

Watson's Skin Care Haul 052111

May 21st was a very special day for me and the Honey. Not only because it is our 63rd Monthsary, but it's also the day the 1st INC (Iglesia Ni Cristo) Unity Games was held.

I will be talking about the INC Unity Games on another post, but for now, let me show you what I got from Watson's SM Manila.

Skin care haul
I also got a small bottle of Loreal Total Repair 5 shampoo and conditioner... I have used it already that's why it isn't shown in the picture...

iWhite Whitening Pack:
Honey and I love using this as we can clearly see the blackheads and whiteheads removed from our faces... =D

P20.00 per pack! Enough to cover the entire face...

 Aqua Massage Facial Sponge
It actually comes in two's but I gave one to Izza. =D
I got it for the first time. Darn! I'm serious with caring more for my skin! I wanna look perfect on my wedding day!!! =D

Let's see how this Spongebob-like thingy would change the rest of my life! Haha!

Garnier Oil Clear Brightening Oil Control Scrub
The weather is crazy hot these days... maybe that's also one of the reason why my face got nasty breakouts for the whole month of May!

Let's give this Garnier baby a try...

Garnier Light Whiten and Protect Moisturizing Cream
I've been in love with this product since August last year! I never thought that I would be using any whitening creams before this! =D

I still have the oil-control cream variation but I got two of these... that's how much I love it...

Next time, I'll be getting a tube... =)

A Bonne Spa Milk Salt
I lately learned that Honey was also using this when we were both studying in the university... =D

We decided to "reunite" with it after such a long time. =)

Kojie-San Skin Lightening Soap
Again, I never thought that I'd be using skin lightening products. I really want to be flawless (by flawless, I mean no scars and awful marks on skin) by the time our wedding comes. I'd be honest, I've got lots of scars from childhood, and even until now I still get scarred by insect bites, tiny wounds, scratches, etc.

 Dove Beauty Cream Bar
It has been part of my regimen since I got used to the slippery feel of it... I was convinced by our family doctor, when she was telling one of her patients that the slippery feel post bath is the moisturizing effect of the soap. =)

Loreal  Total Repair 5 Shampoo and Conditioner
I really want to get the Pure Beauty Treatment Shampoo and Conditioner, as Ms. Nikki have suggested on her blog, but Honey was in a little bit of a hurry and his keen eyes quickly saw these. He said, "Let's go, you are using these, right?" -- He uses that tagline when he knows that I am starting to become a shopping lunatic... XD

So... that's it for my Watson's Haul! I'll be posting another one, soon. ^__^

Hope you enjoyed it! ^__~
